Decorations Photo Why Decorate?



     You might think that decorations are merely an addition to your event. But are “decorations” merely an addition to your home? Imagine living in a house without photographs, without painted walls, without flowers or whatever else you might use to make your home unique and personal. I’d be willing to argue that such a home wouldn’t be the most welcoming place. Now think of why decorating a venue might be important for your party or event. Decorations make the atmosphere of your event more welcoming and friendly. Walking into an empty room with just tables, chairs, and a dance floor is a bit barren.



     At the Spencer Daniels Agency we know that people are inherently visual creatures and get excited by decorations that catch their attention. Talk to any graphic designer and they’ll be able to go much more in depth about this! Simply put, decorations get your guests excited about your party or event and make the entire experience unique and fun for them! Having excited guests lends itself to putting on a successful and memorable event!



     While higher end events might be well served by spending a good portion of their budget on decorating, you do not need to spend tens of thousands of dollars to decorate your venue for the average event. There are two ways to go about decorations: professional decorators such as the Spencer Daniels Agency and do-it-yourself decorating!





Professional Décor



     The Spencer Daniels Agency offers a full selection of high-end décor that will transform the atmosphere of any venue into virtually any theme imaginable. Our theme sets include Las Vegas, Caribbean, Big Band, Roaring 20's, New Years Eve, Rock-N-Roll, 50's Party, Safari, Sports, Mardi Gras, Disco, New York City, Back to the Future, Broadway, South of the Border, Family Fun Day and any other idea you can come up with! We have created customized themes for our clients to suit their needs.



     Unlike many decorators the Spencer Daniels Agency only uses real props and dynamic theme sets. We offer custom table arrangements that will really “wow” your guests. Let me give you an example of what I mean. Let’s say you are having a baseball theme. Some decorators might give you a bouquet of balloons with some baseball cards scattered on the base of the table. Your guests probably wouldn’t complain but they wouldn’t be stunned by the table arrangement either. The Spencer Daniels Agency can create you a table arrangement with a real baseball bat standing vertically as the base with real baseballs and gloves complementing the bottom of the base. Attached to the baseball bat could be a nice bouquet of balloons with mylar balloons that actually look like baseballs or your favorite team’s logo! The Spencer Daniels Agency adds an entirely new dimension to the quality and style of your decorations.



     Aside from table arrangements the Spencer Daniels Agency will also put together decorations for the rest of the venue including backdrops, entrance ways, balloon sculptures (arches, twists, spirals, sculptures and foils), stage sets, sign-in boards, ambient lighting, vinyl graphic signs and banners! Just to give you a taste of our unique decorating style we wouldn’t just line your Caribbean-themed party’s entrance with some balloons but we would bring in a 10 foot tall thatched hut that your guests would walk through to enter the room. The hut could be drowned with ambient lighting, flanked by balloon columns, and have netted railings opening up into the room! Budget Decorating



     Let’s say that your budget doesn’t permit you to do all the decorations I just talked about. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t decorate! There are a variety of ways to decorate your venue without going over budget. One option is to simply use more basic decorations. While the Spencer Daniels Agency prides itself on our ability to offer high-end decorations we understand that many of our clients might just be looking for something a bit less robust. That is why we also offer our clients more basic table arrangements that do not cost as much. Since all of our decorating services are catered to meet the needs of our client’s vision AND budget we can customize a decorating package to suit your needs!      But even if you don’t have the budget to hire a professional decorator there are still ways to spice up your event’s atmosphere. It doesn’t take an expert event planner to come up with inexpensive do-it-yourself ways of putting together some basic décor. For centerpieces, flowers are always in fashion, but you don't have to pick blooms for your tables. If flowers aren't your thing, consider other options -- whether jars of candy, piles of “gifts” wrapped in papers and ribbons that match your theme, vases or bottles filled with colored water (sans flowers). Practically anything can be a centerpiece. For your entrance-way you can hang a beaded curtain, a sheer curtain, or lay down a carpet to lead your guests inside. You don’t even need to unroll an actual carpet; get several yards of inexpensive fabric, trim it to fit, and use heavy-duty double-sided tape to keep it in place! There are so many ways to make sure you have decorations that will make your event memorable even if you don’t have the budget for professional decorations.

Casino Parties & Fundraisers

The Spencer Daniels Agency has casino games that are great for a variety of different types of events. They work well for private parties including Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, corporate events, birthdays, holiday parties, as well as events for schools and colleges. During the cocktail hour of your party you can have your guests play a variety of casino games including blackjack, roulette, craps, poker, money wheels, and even slot machines! You can either have your guests play for pure enjoyment or they can play for prizes that you raffle off or give away.


Casino parties are also especially useful for fundraisers. If you are trying to raise money for your organization you may want to consider hosting a casino night! There are several ways of hosting casino fundraisers. In all casino fundraisers you will want to charge your guests an entry fee which permits them to play the casino games. Throughout the course of the event your guests can play any of the casino games and should attempt to win the most chips. At the end of the night you should give away prizes. There are two ways of going about prize distribution. The first is to give prizes to the high-money winners. The second way is to have your guests "purchase" raffle tickets with the chips they have won and then proceed to hold a traditional raffle.


One thing you should keep in mind when planning your event is its size and scope. Ask yourself these questions:



  • How many people do I expect at my event?

  • What types of casino games do I want to have?

  • How many of each casino game do I want?

  • What percentage of my budget/profit do I want to spend on prizes and give-aways?

  • Do I want music, decorations, or other event services in conjunction with the casino?

  • Do I want professional dealers or will I supply volunteer dealers?

  • Is my venue large enough for the size of the event I want to hold?


It is very important that you keep all of these questions in mind when you are planning your casino event. The number of people you expect at your event will determine how many tables you need. It is advisable that you have enough tables to accommodate roughly 80% of your guests if they were playing simultaneously. It is also important to remember that different games can accommodate different numbers of people. Blackjack can accommodate about eight players while a craps table can accommodate between ten and fifteen. Depending on your budget you may also want to consider enhancing your event with a disc jockey, background music, Vegas-themed decorations, photo entertainment, or other event services for your guest's enjoyment. If you are looking to save some money (especially for fundraisers) one of the best ways to do that is to find volunteers who are willing to serve as the dealers for the casino tables. Hiring professional dealers can sometimes double the cost of your event. Professional dealers are a very nice and appropriate touch for private functions but are not as necessary for public events or fundraisers.
